2021 Chamber Highlights

The Chino Valley Chamber is proud to release the first annual Chamber Highlights, showcasing the year’s accomplishments. The Chamber hopes this report inspires you to become involved with the Chamber during the upcoming year and to encourage others to join us.

STAFF

The Chamber welcomed three new staff members during the 2021 year. Sandy Graham joined the Chamber in May as Membership Director. In July, Karla Perez joined the Chamber as Marketing Director and Renay S. Mehta joined in December as Director of Community Engagement, Workforce, and Economic Development.

MEMBER INVOLVEMENT

The Ambassador Program

The Ambassador Program featured 20 members, who assisted with multiple Chamber events, EMCEEing weekly Business @ Breakfast events, and ribbon-cutting events. Ambassadors included Raziel Arcega, Tera Carpentier, Destiny Collins, Jim Gallagher, Lynnette Goodenough, Peter Joseph, Travis Lafond, Melony Lorenzana, Jim Maloney, Deanna Margaritha, Rudy Navarro, Vola Rossi, Rosemary Ruiz, Ekta Samtani, Craig Sunada, and Gigi Verner.

The Legislative Action Committee

The Legislative Action Committee was active in public policymaking, advocacy, and legislation. This included: assisting in and supporting the passage of 32 legislative positions that supported local businesses in 2021. Similarly, the Chamber hosted Pizza and Politics luncheons, and legislative roundtables with legislators and government officials, ensuring businesses have the opportunities to be involved and stay up to date in legislation.

WEEKLY EVENTS

Business @ Breakfast

The Chamber hosted 48 hybrid Business @ Breakfast events at the Chino Community Building and on zoom, on different topics with informative and knowledgeable speakers. Business @ Breakfast provided members the opportunity to share their knowledge on their business sector to benefit their business peers.

MONTHLY EVENTS

Ribbon Cuttings and Groundbreakings

Ribbon cuttings and groundbreaking ceremonies continued to be a popular member benefit. In 2021, the Chino Valley Chamber hosted 9 ribbon-cutting ceremonies and 1 groundbreaking ceremony, to welcome Chamber members to the Chino Valley!

Monthly Meet Ups

The Chamber hosted 7 Monthly MeetUps to provide Chamber members the opportunity to network while supporting local businesses. The Monthly Meet Ups were at Cannataro’s, R&R Breakfast Spot, Archibald’s Drive-Thru, Black Bear Diner, The Hummus Republic, and Sizzler- Ontario.

Young Professionals Mixers

In October 2021, the Chamber began a Young Professionals Group intended for professionals under the age of 40. The group was founded to create a community of like-minded young professionals in the Chamber, to provide resources for professional development, and for the young professionals to be resources to one another. The group had three monthly mixers with an average of 20 attendees per mixer.

YEARLY EVENTS

Salute to Public Safety- June 2021

The Chino Valley Chamber honored the men and women of our fire, police, and sheriff’s departments, for their dedication and sacrifice to public safety in the local community. The honorees included: Corporal Chad Randall, Chino Police Department Officer of the Year, Clerk Typist II Margarita De Avila, Chino Police Department Professional Staff Employee of the Year, Deputy Stephanie Garcia, Chino Hills Police Department Deputy of the Year, Rebecca Novikoff, Chino Hills Police Department Employee of the Year, Tori Jung, Chino Valley Fire District Employee of the Year, and all fire suppression personnel for the Chino Valley Fire District Firefighter of the year.

Chino Valley Restaurant Month- August 2021

Throughout the month of August, the Chamber was pleased to celebrate 15 participating restaurants. These restaurants included: Archibald’s Restaurant, Dickey’s BBQ, Papachinos, Beleaf Burgers, Hottinger’s Family Meats, Riverside Grill, Black Bear Diner, Los Portales, R & R Breakfast Spot, Cannataro’s, Mariscos El Guero, Sizzler- Ontario, Chophouse 363, Mountain Mike’s, and VITA Italian Bar and Grill. #CVRestrauntMonth

YEARLY EVENTS

Economic Forecast- July 22, 2021

The Chino Valley Chamber collaborated with Brea, Corona, and the Yorba Linda Chamber to host the 2021 Economic Forecast at Eagle Glen Golf Club in Corona, CA.

Keynote speaker Dr. Chris Thornberg, Director of the University California Riverside School of Business Center for Economic Forecasting and Development, an Adjunct Professor at the School, and Founding Partner of Beacon Economics, provided an in-depth update on the economic prospects of the national and local economy.

Golf Tournament- August 23, 2021

The Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce held its third annual Golf Tournament at Los Serranos Country Club. The event was a great success as the tournament was sold out and raised a record-breaking amount.

Randy Mac, NBC4 Consumer Reporter, was the EMCEE for the dinner portion of the event. Magician Danny Magic was the entertainer performing table-side magic for the golfers.

Members of the Chino Valley Chamber of Commerce: Deanna Margaritha, Owner of Infuzion Zone, Jovan Romero, Owner of Luv 2 Play Chino Hills, and Kristina Guitierrez, Owner of Fresh Cut Catering, shared stories of how their businesses were impacted by Coronavirus-19 (COVID-19).

Business Expo- September 25, 2021

The third annual Business Expo was a great success with 70 exhibitors and over 2,000 attendees! Entertainment was provided by YogaSix, CHHS Choir, PetWants and Paws4Success, Elisabeth Iniguez, and the Rockstars of Tomorrow. The Chamber was honored to organize an event that provided local businesses the opportunity to showcase their offerings and services to the local community. #CVBizExpo

Business Awards & Recognition Dinner- October 13, 2021

Was a great celebration of the businesses and business leaders in the Chino Valley at the Yanks Air Museum. Award presenters included: Congresswoman Young Kim, Senator Josh Newman, Senator Connie Leyva, Supervisor Curt Hagman, City of Chino Mayor Eunice Ulloa, and City of Chino Hills Mayor Brian Johsz.

Congratulations to the winners: Chairman’s Award: Jeff Vaka, Ambassador of the Year: Deanna Margaritha, Above & Beyond Award: Heather Parson, Non-Profit of the Year: Chino Valley YMCA, Best Supporting Business of the Year: Ontario International Airport, Outgoing Chair Award: Gigi Verner, Chino Business of the Year: Transtech Engineers, Inc., Chino Hills Business of the Year: Roses Say, and Outgoing Citizen of the Year: David Kramer. #CVBizAwards

Job Fair- October 27, 2021

The Chamber has partnered with the County of San Bernardino Workforce Development Department to provide business and workforce services to meet the workforce and business needs of businesses and the community. The Chamber held their first in person job fair on October 27, 2021 at Chino Chaffey College Community Center. Over 40 businesses and 200 job seekers participated. The Chino Valley Chamber Job Fair resulted in 23 job placements. #CVJobFair

Student Pitch Competition- November 6, 2021

The Student Pitch Competition effectively promoted entrepreneurship by connecting students with local businesses to perfect their business pitch! Seven groups of students made it to the finals and pitched their business idea live on stage to a panel of judges at The Shoppes at Chino Hills. Congratulations to the first-place winner, Nicole Ochoa on her business pitch for her phone application MIGHT.

Holiday Luncheon- December 8, 2021

The Holiday Luncheon was a great celebration of the holiday season! With the assistance of our guests, the toy and food drive raised a record-breaking amount in donations for the Chino Neighborhood House and Isaiah’s Rock!

Guest speakers, David Harrison from Paws4Success, Rose Study from Roses Say, and Rudy Guiterrez from Shell Roofing, shared their stories of how they have effectively utilized the Chino Valley Chamber services to benefit and expand their businesses. #CVHolidayLuncheon

OPPORTUNITIES AHEAD

We are excited to announce that we are collaborating with various organizations to pursue our Upskill Chino Valley program. Upskill Chino Valley will focus on workforce development, economic development, leadership development and entrepreneurship development. We are proud to partner with San Bernardino County Workforce Development, County Supervisor Curt Hagman, Chino Valley Unified School District and the California Employment Training Panel to facilitate this programming. We are looking to partner with many more organizations, businesses and individuals in 2022 to help make a substantial impact in revitalizing our local economy.
